Lisbon is now one of the top European destinations, and if you haven’t been there yet this is maybe the opportunity to do so. There’s everything you’d like to find in a great vacation spot: a beautiful city, nice weather, a lot of history, a river, castles around, great gastronomy, and even a few beaches nearby the city with a great vibe. We want to focus on the latter now, so maybe you can still enjoy the last warm days of Portuguese autumn.
Lisbon is surrounded by some of the best beaches in Portugal, in this article we will introduce you to some of them and some great beach bars near Lisbon.
🏖️ Praia de Carcavelos: it is a 1.5 km long gold sand and blue and clean water coastline where you can find different shops, restaurants, sports activities, and surf classes. It is suitable for everyone, people go there with friends and family or you can also go there by yourself, either for a swim or to surf. To get there you can take the train from Cais de Sodré station and it will be a 30-minute ride.
🍹Windsurf cafe: you’ll be able to find cakes, tasty Portuguese food, well-prepared cocktails, and drinks, right next to the beach.
🍹Casa da Praia: offers a diverse menu of food and drinks, in a lounge-style restaurant and bar right in the heart of Carcavelos beach.
🏖️ Costa da Caparica: the 26 km of sandy coastline of the Atlantic Ocean at some spots is good for surfing, others areas for kitesurfing, fishing, swimming during the day, catch a very nice sunset, there are also several places where you can go for dinner, drinks and party during the evening too. To get there you’ll need to go by car, you can either catch an uber from Lisbon or take the ferry at Cais do Sodré and take an uber from the other side of the river, the ride by uber won’t be more than 20-30 minutes, depending on the traffic.
🍹 Irmao: this trendy decorated and chill vibe restaurant, bar and pub right on the Irmao beach offers delicious meals and drinks, a place to spend the day at parties full of good vibes and nice music during the night.
🍹 Casa Reia: more than just a great bar restaurant lounge on the Praia da Cabana do Pescador, Casa Reia offers workshops, parties and also collaborates with a surf school to offer classes at their spot.
🏖️ Praia de Conceição and Praia da Duquesa: these are two kind of connected beaches on the Cascais coastline, both have golden sand and clear waters, and also offer diverse restaurants, bars, and activities. The beaches have very calm waters and no currents or waves, which make them perfect for a chill swim. To get to these beaches you’ll have to take the train in Cais de Sodré station and jump off in Cascais, the ride will be around 40 minutes and the two beaches are walking distance from the station.
🍹 Bar da Praia: is located at Conceição Beach it offers a mix of seafood and Italian dishes, also good drinks, and a nice atmosphere.
🍹 The circus: you can find this nice beach bar that also serves some tasty dishes, right next to Praia da Duquesa.
