If you’re already in Lisbon and you want to discover nice places around during the weekend or in your free time, keep on reading the list we prepared with our favorites places for a getaway.

🏰 Sintra: you will fall in love with this small village where you can find many monuments and palaces around like the Pena Palace and the gardens of the Sintra National Park. It is a very touristic village and you will find many traditional restaurants and shops there.

To get to Sintra you can either take the train at Rossio station, which should cost less than €3 and take around 45 minutes or take a 40 minutes car ride.

🌊 Cabo da Roca: it is the westernmost point in continental Europe, and for this reason by many explorers it was considered the end of the world for many years. There you can find a lighthouse, a cafeteria, and a gift shop but you will get stunned by the beautiful landscape and the nature around the area. Just right next to it you can find Praia da Ursa.

You can even make it there on your way to Sintra because it is 20 minutes away from there by car, however, from Lisbon downtown, it is a 40-minute ride to Cabo da Roca.

🏄🏻 Ericeira: with amazing waves and being the first surf reserve in Europe, this getaway would be perfect for you if you like to surf, but that’s not all, this village on top of the cliff has beautiful streets and many traditional Portuguese restaurants to enjoy.

It is a 45-minute ride by car to get to Ericeira, or you can also take a bus that takes 2 hours to get there.

🎣 Sesimbra: this village is one of the main fishing ports in the area and its clear waters make it a very popular summer destination not far from the city.

To get there you can take a 2-hour bus, otherwise going by car from Lisbon will take you an hour.

We really encourage you to visit at least one of these beautiful places, it would definitely be the perfect way of getting away from the city for a while and disconnecting from work.
